We decided to get a portable DVD player for Robbie to use on the airplane to Tennessee. (Actually, it's to keep me sane!) After a long search, we decided this one had some pretty good features. We liked that there weren't any buttons for Robbie to touch on the front, plus, it came with a strap to connect it to the back of a headrest in the car. Here we are trying it out.
he's mesmerized...

L.A. County Library
We found a local library this week to go check out some new books. I must be spoiled with the great selection at the Provo library. This library was about 2000 sq. ft. total--a fraction of just the children's section in Provo! However, we were still able to find some good books for Robbie, so it'll do.

Rose Bowl Party
Brian's firm had a party at the Rose Bowl Stadium on Saturday. It's a yearly tradition, and it was really fun! The theme was western this year.
This is the horse-drawn carriage that takes you from the parking lot to the front gate. However, the stroller wasn't able to get on it so we walked it.

Here is the inside. There were booths around the perimeter of the stadium and the tables and seating were in the middle. There were carnival games, blow-up slides and obstacle courses, bull rides, a climbing wall, a live band with a dancing floor, a bar at every corner and tons of food!
One of the booths was Critter Creations, which is basically a Build-a -Bear. We made Robbie this little monster.
They also had a caricature booth, so we had them draw one of Robbie. Plus, there was a booth where you can dress up in old western clothes and get your picture taken for a wanted poster.
And, of course, a Rose Bowl party wouldn't be complete without a game of football! Brian made some great plays, which helped his team to win!

While we were watching Brian play football, I gave Robbie the camera which was turned off to keep him from crawling onto the field. He loves to play with electronics...we might be in trouble. I look down after a minute, and he had turned it on and taken this video! Warning: you might get dizzy. ;-)
Our Little Cutie
Here are some random cute things that Robbie did this week.
I bought him these sunglasses a few weeks ago and he's getting used to leaving them on.

playing with his shape sorter...he's starting to figure it out
While at a restaurant, Robbie figured out that his crackers were much better when dipped in Daddy's extra Ranch.
Swinging at the Park
Robbie and I found a really neat park this week in Beverly Hills. It has a nice size playground set, plus a man-made creek. There were lots of moms and nannies there with their kids in swimsuits playing in the creek. I didn't realize they could get in the water so we didn't have swimsuits, but I told Robbie we'd have to come back when we did. It looked like fun. Instead of swimming though, Robbie got to have his first swing ride! I think he really liked it!

San Diego
For Father's Day, we took a trip to San Diego to see Brian's parents and grandparents. We finally turned Robbie's car seat around for this trip and he loved it! Along the trip down we had to stop for a break, and we found some Thrifty ice cream at the place we stopped! Brian was so excited because he has many fond memories growing up of going to get Thrifty ice cream with his dad. So the tradition started in our family and Robbie got to have some Thrifty ice cream with his dad! Here he is with a mouthful of chocolate ice cream.
open wide!
Aunt Diane and Uncle Doug were kind enough to let us stay at their home. Here are some pictures that we took at their house.

LACMA
Robbie and I went to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) this week. They have a children's section with a construction theme where kids can create, build, paint, draw, etc. anything they want. Robbie really enjoyed the big foam blocks, as well as the wooden blocks.

A little girl and her mom created this bridge and were having fun walking across it. Robbie saw them and really wanted to join in. They were very kind and loved seeing Robbie so excited about the bridge they had built. Here's Robbie crawling across it.

Wicked- The Musical

Brian's firm had a social event this week to go out to dinner and then to the musical, Wicked. Brian was so thoughtful and asked if I could go to since he knew I'd been dying to see it. Luckily they had an extra ticket so we got a babysitter and went! I can't say enough great things about it! It was... AMAZING, FABULOUS, WONDERFUL, SPECTACULAR! I loved the plot, characters, singing, props, costumes, special effects, everything! There is nothing like seeing a major production like this. I saw Les Miserables on Broadway in high school and this play was definitely that kind of quality. It was 2 hours and 45 minutes long, but I didn't want it to end! If you ever get a chance to go, you must! Here are some pictures that I found on the internet since they wouldn't allow cameras in the theater.
