Brian's Day Off

Brian decided a little while ago, to take a day off. He took it yesterday and made it "Maryn Wheeler Day"! He didn't think it was fair that I didn't have a holiday like he does. He even made me a proclamation like his. It was really sweet. For the day, we went to a nearby regional park that was so fun. They have a few playgrounds, hikes, picnic areas, etc. We found some geocaches in the park and had fun hunting those down.

Afterward, he took me shopping and out to eat. It was a wonderful day to spend with my family. Thanks, Brian!

San Diego with Breanna

We had such a fun day with cousin Breanna on Saturday. She taught us a new hobby called geocaching. For more info, go here. We found 5 caches at different places around La Jolla. It's like a treasure hunt and really fun for anyone with a GPS and walking shoes.
On our way to our first cache.
We found it!

One of the caches was hidden just outside the fence of the San Diego temple.
Later we went to La Jolla Shores, and Robbie LOVED it. He hadn't been to the beach since he was about 1 year old. He continues to ask to go back. We didn't bring his swimsuit with us, but we had an extra pair of underwear and shorts, so we let him get in anyway.
Then after Bobby got off work, we met him at Chuck E. Cheese for dinner. It was such a great day, and we were so glad to see Breanna and Bobby!

At the Park

Robbie and I went to the park this afternoon. He played in the sand.
He tried to make a "mountain" of sand on his ball.
He placed a "mountain" on each and every swing, also.
Flowers are blooming like crazy here, and we had to take a picture of how pretty they are getting.

Gawbie and Grandpa

Gawbie and Grandpa came to visit us this weekend.
On Friday, we went to the park.

Grandpa and Robbie would "drum" on the bars with sticks and then drop them through. Robbie would slide down the slide, gather up the sticks, and do it all over again!
Grandpa and Daddy made this car for Robbie on Saturday.
Gawbie and Mommy made the seats.
Robbie helped with his tools, too.
Here he is driving to the "beach".
On Sunday, Uncle Bobby came up to visit from San Diego. It was fun to see everyone! Thanks for coming!

We went to Knott's again on Saturday as a reward for Robbie's potty training. It was such a beautiful day.

Lessons from Daddy

This weekend we went to Guitar Center because Brian likes to see their drums, and they let you play the ones on the floor. Robbie thought it was pretty cool to see his Daddy play. He even got to drum on a few after Brian tried them out. Later, Brian got out his practice pad and was showing Robbie how to drum and flip one of the sticks. Robbie's been practicing with the music from his firetruck, and here's the special performance for you.

8th Annual Brian Wheeler Day

It's that time of year again! We celebrated Brian Wheeler Day this week. For a history go here. I made him his favorite dinner, chicken and rice, and got him a new Padres t-shirt. He also got a surprise pizza delivered for lunch at work from his parents. We are so proud of him and all that he does in our family. Happy Brian Wheeler Day!

Project Linus and More Quilts

I've been sewing like mad lately. Our ward helps this charity called Project Linus (as in the Charlie Brown character who carries around a blanket) where they give quilts to kids in need. On Wed. mornings, our Relief Society gets together to cut, iron and sew quilts for them. I've started to go, and it's been really fun. I'm working on my second quilt top for them. Here is a picture of my first one.
The middle panel has pirates and ships on it, and I can just see a little boy loving that quilt. Robbie was curious if I was making it for him, but when I told him that we were giving to a little boy who needed it, he got excited and has been "helping" me with the fabric. I've been able to learn some quilting techniques from some of the veteran quilters in my ward, too, which has been great.

The lady who has been coordinating these Project Linus quilts has taken me under her wing and given me some of her scrap fabric to make my own quilts also. This pattern is called Blocks and Bricks and I only had to buy the fabric for the side borders and the back. She's already given me more scraps to make a lucky stars quilt. I can't wait!
