Great Grandpa's Birthday

We went down to San Diego yesterday to celebrate Great Grandpa Wheeler's birthday. We had a delicious BBQ at their house. Grandpa, Gawbie, Uncle Steve, Aunt Mary, cousin Jessica and her fiance Patrick all came as well.

Annual Rose Bowl Party

Brian's firm had their annual Rose Bowl Party this weekend. We love this party because it's family friendly and they go ALL out.

They have inflatable jump houses, food, entertainment, carnival games, and more.
The hula dancers
They also play a football game. We are proud to report that Brian's team won. He scored 2 of the team's 4 touchdowns! I wish I could have gotten some action shots, but I had my arms full.
Robbie took this picture. We were quite a ways back and he turned to me after taking the picture and said, "I tried to get him to smile, but he's still cute." LOL
This pic is really hard to see, but it's Robbie in his favorite bounce house. He literally spent hours in here. He would only get out to watch Daddy play football with a promise that he could come back later.
also, in the bounce houseThank you Brian's firm for a lovely evening!

Magic Tree House

Robbie and I have started reading the Magic Tree House series together. I highly recommend these chapter books. They have contained stories in each book that take you to another location with facts and clues about that historical time period. The books all connect in a larger progressive story line also. My first graders used to love them, so I have the first 25 or so of the series. I can read a whole book to him in about 30 minutes.
After lunch he gets the book, and we snuggle on the couch for 15-30 min. of adventure.
We talk about what is happening, and he gets so excited about what's coming next. After we read on Friday, he got out his blocks and built a few tree houses to take us on our own adventure.

Soccer Continued

Robbie loves his soccer class more each time we go. I can see his confidence building and he loves the game.

an enthusiastic "thumbs up" for understanding the directions

treasure hunt-a favorite game

His #1 favorite game to play is "Sharks". He loves to be the shark that goes in after the balls that the other boys are trying to defend.

My Kids

These two get along so well. Lyddie's face lights up when she sees Robbie.
She calms when he sings to her.
He never complains about helping her out. If she needs a diaper, burp rag, or toys, he is there for her.
She's got a few of us wrapped around her little pinkie. We sure love our kiddies!

Utah Trip

We took a little trip up to Utah for a week. We haven't been back since we moved 2 years ago. It was really fun to see our family there.

We went to this park a few times.
We attended Stadium of Fire...
featuring Brad Paisley and David Archuleta.
We visited Temple Square,
the old tabernacle,
the Joseph Smith Memorial Building,
the north visitor center,
and the Christus.
We played water balloons with Uncle Danny's family.
Catching water balloons with cousin Ashley.
Playing bocce ball with cousin Alyssa.
Ashley, Robbie, and Alyssa--the cousins played for hours together!
On the 4th we watched the neighborhood fireworks.
We also visited Great Grandma and Grandpa Ginos.

Robbie even went for a ride with Great Grandpa in his 1936 Ford hot rod. Thanks to our family for making us feel welcome and providing a great time!
