Ice Skating Team Competition

At Lydia's arena where she's been taking ice skating lessons, they organized an optional team competition.  Lydia decided she wanted to be in it immediately.  Each team would have students of each level on it who would be judged on their class requirements.  The team with the highest collective score would win.

Lydia was chosen to be on the green team.  Brian took her a little early to practice with her coaches.

The rest of us came to support and cheer her on.

Green team

All the level 1 competitors for green team went on the ice at the same time.  They were required to do a front swizzle, dip, and back wiggle.

In the end, team green won!

We are so proud of how much she has learned in the last few months!

Paintball

On Saturday morning, Brian took Robbie paintballing.  They had so much fun!
They stayed for about 4 hours and decided that they had to come back another time.

While the boys were gone, we had a picnic out on the lawn.

Cooking Class & the Cube

The Discovery Science Cube has cooking classes every month.  We decided to try it out this month.  We made fruit spring rolls with a yogurt dip.

The kids had fun cutting, measuring, and stirring up the ingredients.

We put all the fruit in rice paper and then dipped it in the yogurt sauce to eat.  We all decided that we love fruit and hate rice paper..haha.  It was a great experience though and we had a lot of fun!

Afterwards we visited the main exhibit right now, DC Comics Superheros.

Summer Stuff

Here's a few miscellaneous things going on.
Lydia and Catherine discovered how to both ride our EZ rider at the same time.

We had a few friends hang out with us for a day.  We mostly stayed home and went to the park across the street.  The kids entertain themselves so well.

Bath time in the big tub!

Brian found this puzzle for me a few weeks ago.  It has the book covers of 50 children's literature books.  I love it and it was so fun to put together!

Father's Day

We had a nice Father's Day!  Brian requested roast for dinner and brownie ice cream sundaes for dessert.  He works so hard for our family and we are grateful to have him!  It was also nice to talk to both grandpas on Father's Day too.  We have been blessed with amazing examples in our life.

Soak City

I took the kids to Soak City for a few hours this week.  It's been fun as they get older and can do more things on their own.  Robbie and Lydi went on some water slides while I hung out with Thomas and Catherine.

Thomas's Birthday

Our fun-loving Thomas turned 5 years old this week.

He's learning new things every day and can't wait to go to kindergarten.

He went to breakfast with Dad on his birthday.  He chose McDonalds.

Then he came home and opened presents.

He picked out a few toys with his birthday money.

And wanted a basketball bear from Build-a-Bear.

For his cake he chose a cookie cake.
He had his well-visit at the doctors yesterday.  He passed his kindergarten check-up with flying colors.  He was also the bravest when getting his vaccinations.  We are so happy to have Thomas in our family.
height: 44 in (75%) (grew 3 inches this year!)
weight:  50 lbs. 4 oz (90%)

Last week, he stole Robbie's phone and took this video.  It's kind of awesome!

Lessons

Lydi continues with her ice skating lessons.  We went early to her lesson last week so I could skate with her during open hours.  I hadn't skated in years and it was fun to be out there with her.

Thomas and Lydi started a new session of swim lessons.  Both are jumping off the side of the pool which is a big deal for both of them.
It's fun to see their growth from year to year.  Things that were hard for them a year ago are coming easier.

Summer Kick-off

We had a summer kick-off with some friends at the beach last week.  We roasted hot dogs and ate s'mores.  The kids played in the water for a bit and soccer on a nearby grass field.  It was so beautiful and fun to relax.

Last Day of School

On the last day of school, Robbie and Lydia earned their AR award for the last trimester.

For the leaving sixth grade class, the school has a "clap out".  The whole school lines the breezeways clapping and cheering as they sixth graders walk out of the school for the last time as students.

Corey School has been an answer to our prayers.  Robbie has excelled and had a wonderful experience here.
