Hawaii: Day 6

On our last day, Friday, Nov. 26, we started out with a hike up to Makapu'u Lighthouse, which is the eastern most tip on Oahu.  It had beautiful views with gorgeous blue ocean.

We spent the rest of the day at Kailua Beach.  We all enjoyed boogie boarding and relaxing!

On our way back to the house, we stopped at Kokonuts for some shave ice.

We got all cleaned up before shopping for some more souvenirs and eating our last dinner at Chili's.  It was such an incredible week!

Hawaii: Day 5

On Friday, Nov 25, we started at Dole Plantation.  We decided to ride the Pineapple Express and venture through the maze.

All on the train

We saw how pineapple grew from the tops of the planted fruit.

Of course we tried the Dole pineapple soft serve.

Then we headed to the maze.  There is a smaller pineapple-shaped maze in the middle of the larger maze (made from hibiscus).
We raced in pairs and its up for debate over who won, but these two claim it.
Then we went to Teddy's Bigger Burgers for lunch.
Then headed over to Waimea Valley to hike to the waterfall.

This hike was so jungle-beautiful!

And apparently Cleghorns were involved in creating the Hawaiian hibiscus
We made it to the falls.  They had life jackets that we all had to wear to swim at the base of the falls.

hiking back down to the car

We also spotted these lizards- green anole.

Then we headed over to Turtle Bay in hopes of seeing some sea turtles.  We didn't find any, but we had fun walking along this embankment.

The kids were so worn out, both Lydia and Thomas fell asleep on Ashley on our ride back to the house.
