Weekend Fun

Lydia and I attended a RS service day.  We went last year to the same event and had so much fun.  Lydia wanted to tie fleece blankets, but when we got there, she loved making these ornaments for refugee families.  We did tie one blanket, but spent the rest of our time making ornaments.  I love that she loves crafting and serving.

On Sunday, the kids were giving each other piggy back rides.  Then they challenged Brian to give some.  Brian couldn't be outdone and told us he could give everyone in the family a piggy back ride... and he did!  We all thought it was pretty good that he could still carry Robbie.

No School

On Wednesday, the three youngest had no school, so we headed to Knotts for the day!  It was the perfect weather and we hardly had a line!

It was fun to have a break in the middle of the week!

Championship Basketball Weekend

Catherine and Thomas had their last games on Saturday.  Catherine's team played first.  Thomas and his friend (standing next to him) both have siblings on the team so Robbie has adopted them as assistant coaches.  They take it very seriously!

Catherine played hard and was aggressive defensively.  Her team really seemed to get the hang of team work for this game!  The YMCA doesn't keep score at this level...but we do (lol).  They won: 16-4!

after game coach talk

Next was Thomas's game.  They were playing in the Championship game against a team that was undefeated this season.  Our team was determined to play their best...

And it paid off!  They won: 26-24!  They were tied toward the end and it was an intense last few minutes.  Thomas's smile says it all.

We hosted the basketball banquet for both teams at our house and Robbie got to say something awesome about each player.  We had so many families wanting to request Robbie as a coach again.  He does a really good job of encouraging and building up these young players.

It's been a great season!  Now we have a few weeks off until the next season begins!

Our Week

Thomas and Lydia went to the dentist this week.  Both did really well!

Lydia had her last baby tooth pulled since the adult tooth was coming in behind it.  She has a wary history of letting dentist do work on her teeth, but she was amazing this week!
The YW had a pool party!

I asked the boys how their room-cleaning was going and this is what I found.....it eventually got clean although its always a scatter-brained process.

Temple

It was the first time we went to the temple with the youth since our wards combined in May. We had 17 youth there, 6 who were there for the first time!  It was amazing!  Only 2 of the youth were priests, so Robbie got to baptize quite a few people. I love seeing my kids serve in the temple.

Basketball

On Saturday, Thomas's team had their first round of the play offs and they won!  They are headed to the championship game next week.  It was a great game, and Tom was a lot of fun to watch.

Catherine also had a great game.  She's getting more confident every time she plays!

Soak City

On Labor Day we headed to Knott's Soak City.   We started out in one big raft on The Wedge.  We went up high on the side of the slide walls on the turns!

Then we all went on Banzai Falls.

We tried out Old Man Falls.

Robbie is on the yellow slide, Lydia is coming down the middle light orange slide, and Catherine is coming down the darker orange slide all at the same time!

A little time at the kiddie pool

Wave pool

and Lazy river

Such a fun day!  Afterwards we headed to a neighborhood gathering for lunch.  We met all of our neighbors and heard stories of our house being built.  Lydia and Thomas saw 2 kids from school that live just around the corner from us.  And I discovered that there is a Maren living next door!  We are glad to know our neighbors a little better now.

Knott's Berry Farm

We decided to renew our Knott's Berry Farm passes this year.  It's been a few years and the kids are all tall enough to ride most of the rides now.  We went on Saturday to try it out.

We all got our own bumper car at Wheeler Dealer.

Surfside Gliders

Cat was brave enough to go with Brian on Hang Time!  She was the only kid that wanted to go with him.

Tom's first time riding Jaguar and he wanted front row!

We also all got to ride Ghost Rider together.

It's so much more fun when everyone can go on the rides!  We had a great day!
