Basketball, Baptism, & Musical Number

Catherine and Thomas played basketball again this weekend.

Catherine got another basket in her game!

Thomas's team had a nail-biting finish, but won 21-17!  Thomas scored all 21 points for his team!  Other's had some great shots but they just weren't falling this game.

I took Lydia and Catherine to our friend's baptism on Saturday.  It was fun to see friends from our old ward and be with our friend on her special day.

On Sunday, my girls and I sang with another mom and her daughters in our church service.  The song is called The Liahona by Angie Killian.  The girls did so amazing!  It was a fun experience to practice together, and we have a greater appreciation for the Liahona that we are reading about in the Book of Mormon this week.

4th Grade Tall Tales

The 4th grade play at the kids school is America's Tall Tales.

Thomas has been working on the music for this play for months now.  I signed up to help backstage, but I got to pick one performance to watch.  Our whole family got front row to see the play on Wednesday night.

Thomas was a storyteller.  He had a small line in the opening number and then stood on the choir risers at the side to help sing parts of musical numbers throughout the play.  Here's a video with his part.

K1 Speed

Brian took the 2 older kids to K1 Speed one night this week.  They had a lot of fun racing.  It was Lydia's first time.

Sports and SkyZone

Catherine and Thomas had their first basketball games of the season on Saturday.  Catherine won the jump ball and scored the first basket!!

Thomas played awesome and  scored 23 points!

Lydia continued with her volleyball league.  It's not what we thought we were signing up for, but she's a good sport.

Catherine's friend from school invited her to play at Sky Zone on Saturday afternoon.  She was so excited to go play.

While we were there, their other friend from school just happened to show up too!  The 3 of them had so much fun together!

Thomas wanted to come too.  He loves playing dodge ball on the trampolines.

And he was excited to flip!

Variety Show

Catherine participated in her school Variety Show on Friday night.  One of her friends moms is a dance teacher, so she gathered any 1st grade girl to be part of the dance.  They were the Golden Hill Golden Girls and danced to the Golden Girls theme song.  It was so cute!!

Annual Allergy Testing

Robbie had his annual allergy testing on Friday.  He had a skin test, respiratory test, and a blood draw. Robbie is a professional by now. We have a follow up with the doctor in April. Right now he has a maintenance dose of his tree nuts once per month, and 60 peanuts every other week.  He can eat anything else he wants and it's amazing!

Our Week

Robbie went back to school Monday morning, but the younger kids had 1 more day of break.  They wanted to spend it at Knotts!  That turned out to be a popular idea as it got quite crowded!  They each picked a ride and then we headed home.  It was fun!

Brian was out of town last week on a trial in South Dakota.  Catherine and all her friends moved in to keep me company until he got back.

Robbie loves racing go-carts.  He went to K1 and competed in their league tournament on Tuesday night.  He placed #1 in his heat.  He's hoping to move up to the more competitive heat next time.

Thomas was selected as Gator of the Month for his class for being a team player.

Beach Bonfire

The youth wanted a beach bonfire activity over the break.  It had been raining that morning, but it cleared up that afternoon so we decided to continue with the activity. It ended up being a total disaster but we made a lot of memories! haha!

It was so cold and windy, the people with firewood and most of the food got lost and were over an hour late, and the meat never finished cooking in time for the BBQ sandwiches!  We had rolls and chips in the parking lot to avoid sand in our food.  Most of the kids were huddled inside a car, and a few brave ones jumped in the freezing ocean.  The kids always have a way of making things fun.

A different group left their fire pit so we used their dying flames to build up a fire again.

We ended up leaving earlier than expected and we were grateful for hot showers that night!

New Year's Eve & New Year's Day

We had a relaxing holiday for NYE.  We got a foot massager and hand massager for Christmas so we all took turns using them as we watched shows together.  Lydia went to her friends house to celebrate until midnight.

On New Year's Day, we headed over to Knott's.  Because of the late night, Knott's was actually pretty quiet that morning.  We all got to ride multiple rides that we wanted.

All of us on the Pony Express

Surfside gliders

Afterwards we ate at Carl's Jr.

Christmas Eve & Christmas

We had a wonderful Sabbath on Christmas Eve!  Lydia and I sang in the ward choir, Robbie helped bless the sacrament, and Lydia gave the opening prayer.  It was great to participate in this special service at church.

After church we headed over to Bobby's house for Christmas Eve dinner!  Holly made us a delicious homemade lasagna.  It was fun to have Breanna in town too.

That night, the kids received their usual Christmas pjs and book to read.

On Christmas morning, the kids were up nice and early as always!

Our big gift this year was a swing set!
