Basketball and Blankets

Basketball season has started again.  Thomas and Catherine are both playing.  Brian is coaching Thomas's team this time too.

The youth made 9 blankets for the LA fire victims this last week for their activity.

I finished a quilt I've been working on for almost a year now.  I made each block out of scraps I already had which was fun.

Weekend Fun

Here's a few things from this weekend.
Robbie got glasses!  He doesn't have to wear them all the time, but he feels like they give him super power eyesight.

Catherine was invited to a Wicked themed birthday party.  She had so much fun!  Glinda even showed up to give all the girls sparkle make up, singing and dancing lessons, and read them a book.

On Monday night, Brian and I took the boys to the Clippers game against the Bulls.  Intuit Dome is pretty high-tech awesome!

We also got to see T-Man dunk 4 times!

Yorba Linda Temple

We took Grandma and Grandpa to see the Yorba Linda Temple.  We checked the missionary trailer and Elder Allen just started a tour for another couple and they invited us to join. So much progress has been made and I'm so excited!

After a slide show presentation in the trailer, we walked around the perimeter of the temple.  There's a horse trail around the property.

The other couple on our tour ended up being from the same ward as my family when we lived in Whittier in the 80s!  We didn't remember each other but we lived there at the same time, and they remember some of the people we knew.  Small world!

the dome is on the left- getting ready to be put on top

A few days after my parents left, I saw that the dome had been placed on the temple!

New Year's Day

New Year's Day!  Last year we found out that New Year's Day was awesome at Knott's.  With the late night before, most people weren't at the park in the morning.  It gave us a lot of time to get on some good rides.

Thomas found the model of his mission that he gave his report on last year- San Gabriel.

We had a lot of fun and were able to leave before it got too crowded!  Then we went to Black Bear Diner for linner--so good!

Fun Day

With Grandpa here, the boys decided to show him the Peterson Car Museum.

They had a whole F1 section this time!

Corvettes- Grandpa's favorite

After the museum, Brian, Robbie and Thomas went to the Clippers v Warriors game.  This is always a great game since we are fans of both teams.

While the boys were at the car museum, the girls took Grandma to the fabric store, M&L.  We love looking for fabrics there (but I didn't get any pictures)!  We got to help Grandma pick out fabrics for Catherine's baptism quilt.  When we got home, Catherine started working on her fleece quilt that she received from Christmas.

Christmas

We were so happy to have Grandma and Grandpa join us for Christmas this year.  We had our traditional Christmas Eve dinner of ham and cheesy potatoes.

new Christmas pjs

Christmas morning- 5:30 am!

We had a nice holiday celebrating the birth of our Savior!

Las Vegas

My neice Cayli is going on a mission to SLC and went through the temple for the first time on Dec. 21 in Las Vegas.  I flew in to be there.  It was such a special experience.  The next day, I drove with my parents back to my house.  They were able to stay with us for our Christmas break.

Brian took the kids to the new Shake Shack that opened up by our house.  Robbie and I loved this place when we went to NY!

The Giving Machine

Lydia and I had the opportunity to work at the Giving Machine in Costa Mesa!  We were so excited!  We had a 2 hours shift with another couple in our ward.

We sent a picture of the things we could give to the family and everyone picked out something to give.

The machines were placed under the "snow" machine which means we got covered in bubbles periodically.. haha!

We had so much fun helping others understand ways to give.  Most thought it was really cool.

Christmas Celebrations

I got to help out with both Catherine and Thomas's classroom celebrations.

Making a Christmas tree ice cream cone

After school got out we made our annual "gingerbread" houses.  We always love decorating and eating candy!
