San Diego

Brian's had a chance to go to San Diego with work lately. This time we got to go a day early and take the kids to the San Diego Zoo.

Let's go!

I love the statues/interactive displays at this zoo.
Robbie being a paleontologist.

the sleeping lion- He has an outdoor habitat attached to this room, but on this hot sunny day, he was wanting some shade.

taller than Dad!
Robbie was so excited to ride Skyfari (the tram across the park)

on the tram
"Look, Mom! A BYU Cougar!"
hanging out with Daddy
The gorillas were so animated when we were there. The keepers were throwing down ice chunks for them to help cool them off. It was funny to watch them interact with who got which one! After they each had one, they sat in the shade along the glass with their backs to us.
the flamingos
taking a nap
the giraffes-my favorite
After the zoo we went back to the hotel and took a swim! Ready to go!

Swimming

We finally set up our little kiddie pool and had our play group over this week. I didn't get any pictures of Robbie with his friends, but he has loved having the pool up this week.

Three Months

Lydia turned 3 months this week!

Things about her right now:
  • She's smiling a ton except when I want to take her picture.
  • She has a happy squawk that is SO cute.
  • She can roll to her side by herself and she tries to roll to her tummy (almost, girl!).
  • We call her Lydia, Lydi, and her brother calls her Lyds.
  • She likes to be held by mommy and mommy alone ALL afternoon and evening.
  • She has a temper.
  • She loves having her clothes changed.
  • She loves bath time.
  • She sucks her thumb and index finger. We've tried a binki, but she hasn't figured out how to use it yet.
  • She sleeps 10 hours at night.
  • She likes when we sing to her, especially "Patty Cake", "Chu Chi Face", and "This Little Piggie".
  • We love her a TON! She couldn't be more perfect for our family!

Playing

Lydia's fussy time seems to align with me cooking dinner every evening. This week I asked Robbie to entertain her to see if that helped her calm down. After about 30 seconds, I hear her happily screeching (she can really make some good noise when she's happy), and Robbie tells me he's "given her some toys". To interpret, that means he has piled ALL of her toys on top of her and apparently Lydia loved it. I couldn't capture her smiling, but she definitely was.

Lydia also started sitting in her Bumbo this week. She enjoys a little "sit up" time to play with her brother and a few toys.
"in action"

Puzzling

Robbie's been experimenting with inventive spelling. It can become quite a guessing game as to what he spells. It reminds me of those word games where you figure out the hidden phrase. We have a GMC Acadia, and Robbie spelled it out on our fridge this week.
