Big Bear

The youth took a trip to Big Bear this past week.  Our bishop owns a cabin up there on the lake and hosted the YW and YM.  The YW went the first part of the week and the YM came up the second part of the week, overlapping on Wednesday for a combined lake day.

All the youth with Bishop

I was happy to be one of the YW leaders to go.

We went kayaking, go carting, sliding on the Alpine slide, and an overall blast with the fun YW in our ward.

Robbie came up on Wednesday . He loves the sea-doos.

We had dinner on the bishop's deck before I left.

Robbie continued the week there with the YM.  They had more time on the lake, nerf wars, board games and so much fun together.

Our Week

Lydia and I went to a WNBA Sparks game on Tuesday evening.  We took another girl in our ward and her mom who are big basketball fans.  It was fun to hang out with them for the evening.

The kids have wanted to check out the Bricks and Mini Figs store down the street for a while.  We all went and created our own mini fig.  It was pretty fun to mix and match all the parts.

Lydia's primary teacher invited us to come swimming in their new pool.  Robbie wasn't feeling well, so I just took the younger kids.

Something clicked with Catherine and she started swimming by herself!  She's had lessons for about 9 months now, but hasn't wanted to push off on her own. I think the shallow step gave her some confidence.

Friends

My friend from high school, Estee, reached out to me last week.  She was in town and wanted to meet up for ice cream.  We found an amazing place called S'moreology.  It was so fun to see her and catch up!

Summer Camps

Lydia has been participating in a Running Club at the local high school this summer.  She wasn't sure about it at first, but really enjoys going now.  She's reached the 10 mile mileage mark so far.

Robbie attended FSY this year with a friend from the ward.  They went to SDSU and really enjoyed their friendships and the classes there.

The next week after FSY, Robbie went to YM camp for our stake.  He had a lot of fun bonding with the boys from the ward.

4th of July

Happy Independence Day!  We've struggled to find a good spot to see fireworks since we moved.  We thought we had a few good places to check out, but we couldn't see much.  We drove around and ended up at The Source parking structure in Buena Park.  We could see out to a few different city and personal firework shows.

Earlier in the weekend, we decided to finally paint lines on our basketball court.  We've been wanting to do this since before we moved in.  It was a full family project, measuring, and making sure the lines were right.  I think it turned out pretty good for a homemade court!

Activity Days

Lydia and Thomas had a Stake Activity Day event.  They learned how to be a missionary!  They learned how to tie a tie.

Answered questions about the gospel

Rode to different stations to introduce the gospel to others.

And learned how to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

 They had so much fun!
