Swim

Thomas likes to play in the water but doesn't like to leave the steps.  I found a place that gives swim lessons year round, so I signed him up early to get him used to lessons.  I wondered if it would be hard for him.  His friend has the same worry about water, so his mom signed him up for the same class.

Both boys have been rock stars!  They love to go swim. They love their teacher.  It's been so good to have him succeed and be excited about swimming!

He has even jumped from the side to his teacher.

Ice Skate

For Lydia's birthday, she is trying out ice skating lessons.  Her first class was fun and she can't wait to go back again.

Mother's Day Activity

On the morning of Lydia's baptism, the Stake Primary had a Mother/Daughter activity.  Lydia looks forward to this every year and didn't want to miss it, especially with Grandma in town.

We played games and had a delicious taco meal.  It was fun to celebrate motherhood.

Baptism

Lydia chose to be baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on May 11.  It was a wonderful day and we are so proud of her. About a month ago we took her on a photo shoot at the Newport Beach Temple in anticipation.

At the baptism

The water was warm but low so her foot popped up out of the water the first time.  She was completely immersed the second time!

Our family - except for Catherine who slept through the service.

Her friends congratulating her.
We are so grateful to the family and friends who made it out to celebrate with us!  We missed those who wanted to be there but couldn't.

Open House

We went to Corey School Open House a few weeks ago.  It was fun visiting each of the kids classes.

Grass head by Lydia

Lydia wrote a country report on a country of her ancestry.

She has loved her teacher this year.  Mrs. Higger has capitalized on Lydia's love of helping.  She lets her help around the classroom and with the students.

Robbie's Chinese art

Mrs. Hadfield has also been great for Robbie this year.   She has given him autonomy and trusts him with students and work.

Robbie's science fair project received an honorable mention again this year!

Field Trip

Lydia's school class had a field trip to our local library so we tagged along.  They came before opening hours and had a private tour around the building and in the back offices.

Thomas was so well-behaved that the librarian called him to be the line leader and was shocked that he was only 4 instead of one of the second graders!

Downstairs for a read-aloud.
We go to the library all the time, so it was fun to have a tour.
