Playing

Lydi has been interested in puzzles lately.

She's getting pretty good at placing them.  Her favorite place to keep the puzzles pieces are down her shirt.  One morning, Brian found 8 puzzle pieces in her sleeper!  How did she sleep all night?!?

She likes to build blocks too.
And of course at the end of playing, she sings her favorite "clean up" song.

Robbie loves to play any game.  He and Dad played soccer this weekend.

We just signed Robbie up for basketball class again.  He really loves to play and get better each time!

San Fransisco Boys Trip

This weekend was the 3rd annual Wheeler Boys' Trip.  Each year they pick a Padre game somewhere in the country to go to and spend the weekend having fun.  They went to San Fransisco this year to watch the Padre v. Giants game.

Endeavor

The arrival of the Endeavor has been a big to-do around LA.  It's going to be displayed at the California Science Center at Exposition Park.  Friday morning the only thing broadcast on the TV was the flight of the space shuttle.  It made flyover appearances all over the state.  I knew that one of the places it was going to fly over was Disneyland so I was hoping I'd get to see it by our house.  When I saw on the news that it was in the LA area, I took Lydia and my camera out to our playground across the street to wait for it.  We were out there for about 15 minutes and it was getting hot (p.s. and by the way, why is LA still in the 90s?  I want fall!).  Anyway, I heard the shuttle and the two fighter jets accompanying it before I could see it.

The neighbors across from us came out on their balconies. The construction workers building houses in our tract stopped for a few minutes.  We all cheered and clapped in awe of how amazing this machine was and the history behind it.

It was really quite spectacular and I'm so glad I got to witness the final voyage.

Fun fact: While I lived in Colorado growing up, my dad had a temporary assignment in Florida.  The day that Endeavor arrived in Florida (1991) was during the week my mom went out to visit him.    She had her camera and a great view from their apartment.  (Later she found that her camera didn't have film in it!)  So my family has seen the beginning and final flights of Endeavor!

On it's way to Disneyland

A few minutes later I could see it in the haze on it's way to Seal Beach.  It's just above the left corner of the building.
I'm grateful to have seen a part of American history!

Side note: Here's a few pictures of Lydia playing while we waited for the Endeavor to arrive.

Recovery

We've been recovering this weekend from head colds.  Robbie even missed a day of school on Friday.  He was so sad about missing some of the fun activities he does there.

We've done a lot of hugging,

snuggling,

 lounging,

 and sleeping.
We are feeling much better now!

Family Time

We went for a family walk/bike ride and then hung out at the park on Saturday night.
 It was relaxing and fun.

16 months

Lydia is 16 months now.

Here's a few things going on with her right now:
  • She has 11 teeth.
  • She knows what her eyes and mouth are and can point to them.

  • Her word for more food is "mum mum". (more + num num)
  • She still takes 2 naps.

  •  She loves when we sing to her.
  • She loves baby dolls- such a little mama.  She kisses them, hugs them, and puts them to bed.
  •  She's been in nursery for about a month now since I was called to primary.  I've been told that she loves the kitchen there and will only leave it for snack and playing outside. (Our nursery has an outside courtyard.)
  • She likes to sit on the counter top in her bathroom while I put pretties in her hair.

  • She likes to run, especially when she doesn't want to do something or to tackle Daddy.
  • Her favorite foods are bananas, strawberries, green beans, mac n cheese, sunbutter sandwiches, and anything chocolate.
