Basketball

Basketball started up again!  We love the jerseys this season.

Catherine had a double-header on Saturday.  They lost their first game but won the second!  She's scoring, defending, and stealing!

Thomas's team also won their game.  He moved up to the 12-14 year old league, so he's on the younger end, but holding his own still!  He made three 3-point shots!

Rancho Mirage

Since we were taking Lydia out to Redlands, we decided to spend the week at Rancho Mirage.  I took Thomas and Cat for the beginning of the week, and Brian joined us after work on Thursday.  It was super hot all week-- 113*+!  We played some tennis, pickleball, and basketball, but mostly spent hours at the pool every day.

After I got out of the pool one time, a fiery skipper came and landed on my toe for a drink.  It was so cute!

Catherine picked out this cute turtle.  Her name is Shelby Yertle.

One day I took the kids to a movie- Minions and Monsters.

We also checked out the zoo early one morning.

It was a fun week to get away!

FSY

Lydia attended her first FSY conference this week in Redlands.  She had 2 girls from our ward sign up with her.  She had a great time!

Nixon Presidential Library

On Saturday afternoon we visited the Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda.  They had a 250th anniversary of America exhibit that was neat.

In the Watergate section, we saw this video of an interview with Pres. Christofferson.  He was the law clerk to the judge overseeing the trial at the time.

Summer Fun

Lydia finished summer school this week with an A in her Geometry H class!  She went straight up to Big Bear for Girls Camp afterwards.

She always has fun at girls camp.

Meanwhile- I took Tom and Cat to Soak City again.

Thomas got his braces on the top this week.

Tom and Cat had their last day of running club for the summer.  They gave out mileage awards.  Catherine has run 60+ miles this year so far over 2 sessions.  Thomas ran 27 miles just this summer session.  I'm so proud of them!

On Saturday morning Brian took Lydia and Thomas to the temple for our family temple trip.

4th of July

This year for Independence Day we started out at the ward patriotic breakfast.  Tom helped raise the flag and we had a delicious pancake breakfast.

Then we headed down to the San Diego Temple open house.  The kids were amazed at how much bigger it is from the temples we have by us.  It was special to see the temple as a family again.
