Robbie's Birthday

Robbie turned 14 last week!

He went to breakfast at Farmer Boys with Brian and Catherine.  He had his 8th grade promotion the same day so he didn't have to go to class in the morning.

At the promotion he was awarded as a Meritorious Scholar for getting 4.0 GPA all year.  He was also honored as a Distinguished Scholar.  Each of his teachers wrote what they appreciate about him and they read it at the promotional ceremony.  Only 5 students received this award and it was quite an honor!  Talk about a great birthday surprise!

We finished off the night at Outback for dinner and fudge at home.  He went for a sports physical a few days later and measured in at 6'2" with his shoes on.  He keeps growing inside and out!  We love you, Robbie!

Clippers Date

Brian took me to a Clippers play off game a few weeks ago.  It was my debut NBA game and it did not disappoint!  He also invited a client and his wife who were super nice.  We were in the up close "vaccinated" section.  Clippers did end up losing, but it was fun to be front and center and see it all live!

Piano Recital

Robbie and Lydia had their spring recital on Saturday.  They worked really hard and even though they had some nerves, they did so good! They each picked 2 songs to perform.

Grandma Wheeler

Great Grandma Wheeler passed away at the end of April.  Her funeral was this week in San Diego. It was a beautiful service and graveside.  She had all her children there and all but one grandchild were able to come.  We don't see the Wheeler extended family very much so it was good to see all of Brian's cousins.

The grandsons were the pallbearers.

After the luncheon, we found a small park area in the cemetery to let the kids play outside for a bit.  They loved this tree they could climb and sit on for pictures.

Knott's Berry Farm

Knott's Berry Farm opened up for rides!  We got reservations and spent and afternoon there.  It was fun to see it all and ride some of our favorites.

Lydia did her mission report on the Santa Cruz mission this year.  We found this model at the park.
They have a new ride similar to Toy Story at Disneyland that we tried out.  It was the only ride that we all went on together.

Afterwards we got a cookie-wich to share.

It's fun to be out and doing things again!

Graduation & Mother's Day

After three years, I finally graduated with my masters in education from Penn State!  Graduation was on Mother's Day and my family spoiled me!

It was such a special day and a relief to have my master's done.  I have loved almost every minute of it.  I miss being a student.  For my thesis I wrote and illustrated a children's book called Home.  It's a collective biography of women in my maternal family line and a really special project for me to work on.
