Robbie's Banner

The city presented the Distinguished Scholar banners at Silverado Days last weekend.  Unfortunately, we couldn't be there to receive it, but I was able to pick it up this week.

Race Day

We ran the Pumpkin 5k Run again this year!  Brian joined us this time, and Lydia took pictures since she had a XC race later that day.

Thomas finished under 30 min, Cat came in under 38 min., and Brian and I made it in about 50 min.  It was fun to do something together.

In between races, Thomas and Catherine made Oreo Truffles.

Lydia had her Mt. Sac race which is known for its level of difficulty!  This is not a flat race.  They run up hills and dirt trails.

She's going up the hill here.
We are so proud of her competing in these races!

Ancient Civilizations & Football

Thomas had his Walk Through Ancient Civilizations performance on Thursday.  He was on team Rome and his character was Constantine.  He had his parts all memorized and performed them really well.  This is always a fun event for the kids.

Thomas also had his first play-off football game on Friday night.  The were up against another team from the same elementary school, which was fun.  They ended up winning by a lot!  His team moves on to the championships now!

Race Day and Halloween Party

Lydia ran in the Orange County Championship race this weekend.  She achieved another personal record by 3 minutes!  We are so proud of the hard work she's been putting in.

Cool down after the race.  Catherine and Thomas have joined running club on Mon. and Thurs. nights.  After the race, Lydia needed to cool down so they ran her cool down with her.

Then we went to Shake Shack for lunch!

Later that night we had our ward Halloween party.  Catherine had 3 friends from school come with her!  This year she is a flying squirrel.

Thomas is dressed as Moon Knight this year.

Lydia is a scary Wenda (girl version of Waldo).  The youth put together a fun spook alley.  Lydia did a great job in the coffin.

During the trunk or treat portion, Brian set up the projector to watch the BYU football game.  It was a big hit!

Our Week

On Wednesday the elementary school encouraged everyone to walk or bike to school.  We ended up walking and having donuts before school.  It's always fun to change up our mornings for this day each year.

Brian and I went to see Come From Away for one of my birthday plays. All of the actors played more than one character, and I loved that most of the actors also played instruments throughout the play- drums, accordion, flute, guitars, banjo, piano, whistles.  It also had a lot of storytelling.   It's a 9/11 story that takes place in Gander, Newfoundland. A lot of the planes headed to the USA were rerouted to this small town that day.  It's an incredible story!   I read the nonfiction book beforehand called The Day the World Came to Town by Jim DeFede.  As horrible as that day was, there were also tender mercies.

Tom had another flag football game on Friday night.  They didn't win, but he had some great receptions and flag pulls.

Tom built a fort in his room over the weekend.

Catherine found she can no longer keep all her stuffies in a basket.

Lydia was invited to attend the Clovis Cross Country Invitational (near Fresno) over the weekend.  She left Friday morning and came back Sunday afternoon.  She ran a 5k in the race and got a personal record for that race length.

Gator of the Month, Hoedown, General Conference

Catherine was nominated Gator of the Month by her teacher for her hard work.  She didn't realize she was getting it so it was a fun surprise!

Both Brian and I were able to go to the assembly.

Catherine and I also attended the school hoedown.  There were crafts, food, dancing, and friends.  Catherine's friend specifically invited her to hang out.  It was fun to get to know her mom. We had a lot of fun.

We also watched General Conference this weekend.  It was really wonderful!  The kids always have fun playing while they listen.
